The Godfather of Car Audio Offers His Expertise
Richard Inferrera, owner of Rich’s Cartunes and the Ritop
School for Mobile Electronics, otherwise known as “The Godfather of Car Audio”
shares his 35 years of experience with the students at the school. The best tool
that the installer has is their ears and that they need to be cared for is an
understatement. Those choice words and many others were the starting point of
the Listening Skills workshop taught by Richard to our recent class.
After spending the time that it takes to install sound
equipment into vehicles, tuning the system is one of the last and most important
steps an installer undertakes before returning the car to the owner. The
investment in a system wouldn’t be worth anything if it didn’t sound good.
To emphasize this, the students attended a hands-on workshop
in “How to Tune a System” as part of the curriculum at the Ritop School. There
is no one better to teach this than the “godfather” himself. Gathering around
the Mustang, Richard pointed out the importance of keeping your ears protected
at all times. Wear protective gear, do not listen to loud music for prolonged
periods, and be careful of sharp objects in your ear canal are just a few
helpful suggestions made during the seminar.
Richard explained to the class that because there is limited
space in a car, it’s important to keep in mind how important the placement of
the speakers are to ensure quality sound for all the passengers. The class
enjoyed the presentation and left with some real-world useable information that
will serve them in their careers in the mobile electronics field..
