| Sharon Means, Senior Coordinator of Member Relations for MECP arrived at the school
on June 9, 2003 for a meeting with the school’s director, staff and students and
to familiarize herself with the Ritop School’s curriculum and facilities.
MECP, a nationally recognized organization that licenses mobile electronic
installers of aftermarket equipment, often visits schools to see the facilities
and examine the curriculum to determine what each school has to offer. After
staff introductions, Ms. Means was escorted around the building. While touring,
she stopped to speak with a graduate, who was in the process of updating his
resume in the computer lab. Continuing her walk through the school, she took
time out to talk with a few current students who were working on the project
cars in the shop.
Later in the day, the students gathered for a question and answer session
with Ms. Means. Ten installation related questions were asked of the students
and for each correct response, an MECP T-shirt was awarded. After the shirts
were given away, the students had the opportunity to speak with Ms. Means and to
find out more about MECP certification. The Ritop School would like to thank Ms.
Means for coming to the school.
