Seven top manufacturers asked for assistance from the Ritop School for
Mobile Electronics
The Ritop School partnered with John Ripley of Best Reps and some of the
following companies that he has an association with; Alphasonik, Cascade,
Element Enclosure, MB Quart, Optima, Ichibahn, Tsunami, Panasonic and LoJack to
outfit a 2002 Mini Cooper with a stylish multi-media system.
Ritop has been reaching out to various manufacturers to see if the donation
of equipment is possible so that students can work with state-of-the-art
products even before they are employed in the industry. The Mini Cooper project
lasted about two months and George Briscoe, lead shop instructor, selected
students that showed initiative as well as attention to detail to work with him,
making sure that the project car was done perfectly.
The process; the vehicle was stripped down to bare metal, Cascade sound
dampening material was applied, Tsunami wire was pulled throughout the car, MB
Quart component speakers were mounted in stock locations and also three ten inch
subwoofers went into an Element Box custom painted to match the Mini's colors. A
LoJack vehicle recovery device was placed, a rack was built to hold four
Alphasonik amplifiers and an Optima battery was utilized as the power source.
The final touches were from Ichibahn accenting the pedals and shift knob. A
Panasonic DVD/CD player was placed in the front console along with a 12-disc
changer in the rear. Choice locations were chosen for all the rest of the
gear for the car: capacitors, distribution blocks and remote devices.
After completion, the car was placed into a carrier for safe transport around
the country for viewing by the public.
Ritop is extremely proud that these manufacturers gave our students an
opportunity to assemble the high-tech equipment in this unique vehicle.
