What Should I Bring to School?

Recommended Tools and Supplies

Students should bring school supplies appropriate for note-taking in both the classroom and shop. Some classroom work requires the use of a calculator. A scientific calculator is recommended, however a basic calculator will be adequate.

The Ritop School has a fully equipped wood shop, paint room and an extensive selection of hand and power tools available for your use. We request that all students utilize the tools we have available; it is recommended that you do not bring your own tools.

Recommended Clothing

Students should bring clothing appropriate for New England weather. Ritop is located near Boston and within close proximity to the ocean and beaches for warmer weather enjoyment and a short drive to fall and winter recreation areas for winter sports.

For safety reasons, closed toe shoes are required at all times

October through March

Extra blanket, warm boots, socks, gloves, hat, thermal underwear, sweatshirts and jeans for both school and free time and a winter coat (layers of clothing are best).

April through September

Light jacket, spring and summer clothes. Bring clothes that are comfortable to wear: jeans, shorts and T-shirts for school and free time.

Housing Necessities

If you are staying in the studio apartment housing, you may want to bring an alarm clock, radio, small appliances, coffee maker, phone, toaster oven, and microwave oven for your room. For those students staying in the hotel facility, these items are provided in your room. Please feel free to bring whatever else you would like to make your room as comfortable as possible. Please be aware if you choose to bring a stereo or boom box for your room, no loud music is allowed. You will have neighbors, so if you like loud music please bring headphones.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact us prior to your arrival at the school.
