Preparing
our students for the world of installation aftermarket equipment, we are always
looking at additional ways of getting our students information and techniques
that will be instrumental in their success as they enter the mobile electronics
industry.
The topic of “How to measure
the sound quality of an installation” is covered in our curriculum. One tool in
assuring good sound quality is the use of a Real time Analyzer.
Attending the 2002 IASCA
Finals in North Carolina, I met Tom Walker, Technical Director of Audio Control.
Audio Control manufactures a ten-band spectrum analyzer that measures the
internal cavity of a vehicle to assist the installer in finding a real tuning
point of the sound equipment that was installed. After a brief conversation and
some persistent persuasion I convinced Tom that the use of a RTA would be a
great asset to the school and our students.
A couple of weeks later a
SA-3055 Real Time Spectrum Analyzer/SPL Meter arrived with a letter from Tom
expressing his desire to do whatever he could to help educate our students. Now,
incorporated in our training program, the school offers a workshop to better
understand how and when to use the meter when installing an audio system.
I would like to thank Tom
Walker and Audio Control for the donation of the spectrum analyzer and their
continued support of the Ritop School.
